12/27 Hunt at Eagle Bluffs-Katy Pool

Today (12/27/10) is my birthday, I went hunting with Bryan Kovar and my brother Jason.  We saw quite a few birds in the air, but had to leave at 8:45am because Jason and I had to go to work. Of course as soon as we left the birds starting flying really good. It was really cold, about 10 this morning and no wind. Even though there wern't many birds wanting to work I was able to snag me a birthday mallard!

12/24 Hunt with Bryan Kovar at Eagle Bluffs- Buck Pool

So... 12/24 ended up being a great hunting day dispite the nasty weather and our original plans getting canceled at the last second. However we were able to regroup and find some birds and were able to put a few down as well. We ended up going to Eagle Bluffs around 9am and ended up hunting some dry cut corn. It was literally the most birds I've had work decoy's in a long time. At one point we had almost a hundred birds working our decoys. I'll be uploading videos from the hunt in the next couple days. Just wait to check out our massive decoy spread... or lack there of.

12/23/2010 Scouting Report

Did a little scouting this morning before work down in the McBaine bottoms. Saw 600-700 ducks, and a few hundred geese. The ducks were acting a little funny, about 1/3 were trying to dive bomb a bean field, 1/3 were hitting the river, and 1/3 were headed towards Eagle Bluffs.  About 1/2 of the ducks got up off the city wetlands and the other half looked as if they had gotten up off of Perchie Creek.  All the geese were headed towards Eagle Bluffs.  Bryan, Mike, myself and maybe Carl Allen plan on hunting the Eagle Bluffs in the morning.  Should be a good morning!

Hotel Review

While looking to book a hotel for our January Arkansas hunt, I ran across a hotel for $27/night. Then I read the description about the hotel...

"Lakeside Inn is below average it does need alot of work.but our little lake is 50 yards away.no it isn't a lake for boaters but its still a lake! This motel is not recommended for travelers unless your on a budget."

 

Needless to say, I won't be staying there!

12/17/10 Hunt

Hunted Eagle Bluff's today in Columbia MO, hunted spot 12 north. Lots of ice today, 2-6 in, about 25 degrees, no wind. We saw 1 bird that was way high.  Took a few of my co-workers (Bryan and Mike) and Jason (my brother). We had a good time other than all the ice and no birds! Will post link to video from today as soon as I can.
