Shoot'em Boys Jason, Joe, Chris and several others have had a couple really good weekends goose hunting. 79 geese in four days, not too bad! Here are a few pics from there hunts.
Interview with Mark Howard from Mark's Guide Service
This is the guide we hunted with on the Casche River. Awesome spot, great hospitality, and can't wait to go back next year!

Arkansas Hunt in Review
To say this was my best ever weekend hunt is an understatement! I got to hunt a lot of good spots, meet new people, made a few friends, and even shot a few ducks. Also I got two things marked off my duck hunting bucket list: 1. Shoot a woodie 2. Shoot a banded duck.
Since leaving Stuttgart I've had pretty much nothing but ducks on the brain. My dad and I, Bryan and Mike from work are already planning trips down to Arkansas for next year. I hope to be able to make two trips next year, hopefully one with my family (Dad, Jason, Dakota and Ed Wulff) and one with my work crew and some of my friends (Bryan, Mike, Shane, and Joe). So we can all...

Double Banded Baby!
Yes, I actually shot a double banded drake! I was so happy! I shot it from the rice blind in Stuttgart on our first morning hunt in Stuttgart. I actually am not sure who was happier, me or Stanley (who owned the property we were hunting on).
Stuttgart Pics
Here's Day 2 Morning hunt results and some pictures from the blind in the rice field. The water in the interior picture is actually only ankle deep.
Casche River Pics
Here is a picture of my first wood duck. Also this shows the inside of the heated blind on the Casche River and the shooting deck from the same blind. This place I'm sure is the "Honey Hole" when the river is up and the birds are in.
Some good food from our Arkansas trip!
You know me, I can't not go somewhere and find some good food. Here are some of the food joints we went to and what we ate.
This is at El Canaveral Mexican Restaurant in Stuttgart, this is the El Canaveral Mexican mixed grille mill. It had steak, chicken, smoked sausage, shrimp, a pork chop, red bell peppers and onions. All for around $10. It was dang good eats!
This is at Le Petite Cajun Restaurant in Stuttgart. This is a gator po-boy sandwich and a baked sweet tater. It was very good. Cost was around $9.
This is from Po Dave's Restaurant in Stuttgart. Dave has a daily plate special, I got the chicken wing plate. This was real traditional food and was cheap, only cost $5.50!
This is at El Canaveral Mexican Restaurant, this is the dinner special. It had a taco, burrito, Chile rellano, tostado, a shredded beef tamale, rice and beans. All for around $8. It was also dang good eats!
I also found a lady in Newport AR that sold BBQ sandwiches and fried pies out of her trailer. They were to die for! It was so good that my sandwich didn't stick around long enough for me to get a picture of it!

Arkansas Hunt Day 3 Stuttgart, AR
We hit the same rice field this morning. We had thick fog with about 10-20 yard visibility and heavy wind. I was still able to put the smack down on a few ducks but, Dad and the property owner were cold so we left the blind early. Still pretty high about the double band and the wood duck, so cutting this hunt short didn't hurt my feelings at all. We are currently North bound and down back to MO.
Arkansas Hunt Day 2 in Stuttgart, AR
I think I should buy a lottery ticket. I shot a DOUBLED banded drake mallard today. I did also shoot a limit of mallards. It was a great hunt! We were hunting a flooded rice field in a pit blind that was in a drain channel. We saw a lot of birds, a TON of specs and snows but we were not set up for geese. If you ever get the chance you need to come down to Stuttgart and hunt. The entire town is about duck hunting. When I say the entire town, I mean the ENTIRE TOWN! It's not near as expensive as what you think. There are a lot of reasonably priced guides and outfitters. It was a awesome time and I will be back next year!

Arkansas Hunt Day 1 at the Casche River
Well... I would call today's hunt a success. We only killed one bird, a wood duck that I shot. Now you may be asking how is one duck a success? Here's the answer. I've been chasing ducks for about 15 years and have never shot a wood duck. So when that pair of woodies came in and I smoked one, I couldn't have been happier. Now the spot we were in was awesome, but there was not a lot of water in the area in the last weeks so most the birds had moved out. We did however manage to eat some killers BBQ sandwiches and fried pies out of a gals shack she sold food out of on the side of the road. Next up I'll be hunting some flooded rice in the duck capitol of the world, Stuttgart AR.

Season's come to a end
This years Missouri duck season has sadly came to a end. I'd say all in all this was a pretty successful year, we for the most part were able to constantly get into ducks and even hit a few! Our last couple duck hunts weren't that great, it was more of a duck watching trip than anything. LOL! The Missouri Canadian Goose season doesn't end until the 31st so were going to try and get out and smack some honkers.
Did try a couple new duck recipes this year. Made some duck and goose jerky, not my favorite but is edible. Also made duck poppers on the smoker, they were awesome! Even my kids loved them.
I've got one more duck chase next week in Arkansas with Mark Howard's Guide Service in Jonesboro Arkansas. I'll be sure to send in photos and videos from the heated blinds!
