Christmas Eve hunt at Eagle Bluffs
Bryan Kovar and I went with a couple guys from Bryan's church, Justin and Will. This was Justin's first time duck hunting. I'm glad to say he shot his first duck on our watch, and ended the day with 3 ducks. I'm very proud to say this is the third time this year I've assisted someone in shooting there first duck.
Here is a picture of Justin and his first duck.

Here is "Lil' Tutt" (Jason Tutt) with the birds he shot on the 3rd. Lil' Tutt is in his apprenticeship with the Shoot'em Boys... We've got pretty high standards.
Can you throw a dog a bone?!?!
Can a guy get some kick back somewhere? Federal Ammunition, Toxic Calls, Winchester, Remington. Can someone send us some free stuff? LOL
On a side note here's my limit from Grandpass on December 3rd.

Thank You Jason!
Jason got me my birthday present about a month early. He got me two Toxic calls, the TTS goose call, and the NBD2 duck call. They are sick!!!
Also Jason has is a pro-staffer for Toxic Calls. Let him know if you need any. Shoot'em Boys use and suggest Toxic Calls. Visit www.toxiccalls.com for more info.
Several Grand Pass hunts.
Some of the Shoot'em boys have been lucky enough to get into Grand Pass 3 days in a row, all days shooting limits of birds! Here are a few picks. And yes that is Jason with his first red head duck, and yes it headed straight to the taxidermist.
November 18th Hunt at Eagle Bluffs
What a day! Some of my favorite hunts are the least successful ones. 4 of us shot 6 birds, but we had a awesome time! Our buddy Mike shot his first ever duck, Bryan's dad told stories of hunting "back in the day" with some of his buddies. All in all it was a good day and I was glad to be part of that.

Nov 6th Hunt at Grand Pass
We had a awesome hunt this past Sunday at Grand Pass in MO. We hunted pool 6, in some flooded corn and switch grass. Myself, my oldest son Dakota (9yrs old), my brother Jason, and our buddy James went. We shot 16 duck, kind of a mixed bag... ring necks, teal, shoveler's, and mallards. Dakota had a great time, he shot is first duck and ended up shooting 4 total. I think he may have the fever now! Here are some pics and a video from that hunt.

Scouting Report
We've done some traveling the last few weekends through northern Missouri, southern Iowa, western Iowa and Eastern Nebraska. Here's what was up w/the waterfowl in the area.
9/1 Eagle Bluffs wildlife refuge Columbia MO, not a lot of action, saw a couple small groups of teal and a few small groups of wood ducks.
9/4 Western Iowa and North Western Missouri, lots of crops still flooded from this past summer. Although the flooding is terrible, it will likely cause some good waterfowl hunting. Most of the small farm ponds near the flooding were holding small groups of teals. Some geese were starting to move in.
9/5 Eastern Nebraska, didn't see hardly any ducks, saw quite a few geese hitting freshly harvested corn fields.
9/13 Central Missouri, Saw several larger flocks of geese, mostly in freshly seeded areas. Groups of about 30-50.
9/10 North Central Missouri and South Central Iowa, no ducks in sight. Ton's of geese hitting the corn fields and the pastures.

Saw some ducks....
Labor day weekend we went to Omaha zoo and of course I found some some rare ducks. The first is a cinnamon teal resting on a log. The second is a desert teal.

Looking good!
This is per Ducks Unlimitied at http://www.ducks.org/
"According to 2011 U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Canadian Wildlife Service waterfowl surveys, total duck breeding population estimates have increased in most traditional survey areas in Canada. The only exceptions are in northern parts of the British Columbia/Western Boreal Forest Region, which could be a result of birds short-stopping to take advantage of the excellent habitat conditions in the Prairie Region. Prairie breeding populations have increased by 41 to 66 percent since last year and by 2-43 percent compared to the long-term average. Breeding habitat is favourable in most of the Eastern Region, and Ontario is expecting an above-average production year.?

There is a butt load of ducks on a couple of our ponds, about 60 on one and 25 on the other. Mostly scaups and canvas backs.
